Case File #3 Part #18

It isn’t until the next day when you see the morning news that you figure out exactly what happened. It seems the player who tackled Watkins was the assassin – according to the news reports, the rival player for the Detroit Lions was carrying a gun in the waist band of his uniform pants and as soon as he had the chance, he fired a single shot directly into the heart of Watkins at point blank range, killing him instantly. The assassin then quickly took off his helmet and ran off the field. He was caught before leaving Lambeau Field, however, and is now in police custody.

Case File #3 Part #17

With a police officer knocking at the driver’s side window, your father simply isn’t able to keep up his front any longer – at least not if he doesn’t want to seem suspicious to the officer. He explains the officer everything, including how scared and panicked he was. The officer heads back to his cruiser with all of your father’s information (driver’s license, insurance and registration), and after nearly half an hour sitting on the side of the road, the officer finally comes back with the documentation and lets you all go. Needless to say, it is a very long and quiet ride home.

Case File #3 Part #16

Finally you make it to the car – your father quickly unlocks all of the doors and you all jump in. He starts the car and puts into drive as fast as possible, squealing the tires on the family car as he pulls off leaving a trail of smoke. A police officer makes an attempt to wave your father down and stop the car, but he just floors the gas pedal and speeds out of the parking lot; he’s obviously just as scared as anybody else is, though he of course maintains a strong front in front of you and your mother. As expected, however, the cops quickly pull over the family car.

Case File #3 Part #15

A long fifteen minutes passes of fans screaming and people pushing their way past you in fear – eventually however, you reach the exit and hurry into the parking lot.

The parking lot is a chaotic scene as well, however, filled with police cars, ambulances and of course, more panicked fans. Hastily you all make your way to the family car; unsure however if you will even be able to even leave the stadium’s parking lot once you do find it. There happens to be a lot of cars that resemble your fathers – but eventually your mom spots it in the distance.

Case File #3 Part #14

Panic-stricken fans run throughout the stands and the corridors of Lambeau Field, trying to reach the exit. Police men and security guards are trying to keep the peace, while at the same time trying to get to the bottom of what exactly just happened. At the same time your father is trying to calm and comfort your mother and try to make sure you stay safe as well. Battling to reach one of the stadium exits, your family takes it place behind a mob of people, waiting as calmly as possible for a chance to get out of the exit as soon as possible.

Case File#3 Part #13

As your father runs up the stairs, you look back and notice the tall, skinny man with long black hair, dressed in a long trench coat from before – he doesn’t seem to be panic-stricken at all; in fact, he is still peering through his binoculars, and still checking out the game from his seat. In the midst of all this chaos, he hasn’t even budged an inch.

By now you hear the announcement over the loudspeaker, informing everybody that there is an armed shooter in the stadium, and the voice urges the crowd to remain calm. This of course, doesn’t go over so well with the crowd.

Case File #3 Part #12

The lone defensive player for the Lions steps back for a moment in shock, throws his helmet to the ground and begins running towards the locker room.

The thousands of fans packed in the bleachers all jump up from their seats, and almost in unison begin screaming and trying to push their way through the frantic crowd. Your father grabs you in his arms, and your mother starts crying as he takes her by the hand.

Your father starts charging his way up the stairs, and of course all of this is very confusing to a small child – you’re not even quite sure what has happened as of yet.

Case File #3 Part #11

Haley hands the ball off to the popular Mike Watkins, as he normally does on first and ten. The crowd erupts with applause, just as they always do whenever Watkins handles the ball – they know he is capable of anything when he’s running. But nobody expects what happens next.

Watkins breaks free from one tackle, and suddenly there is only one person left between him and the goal – they smack into each other with a ferocity only seen by the strongest animals in the wild, and the sound of their pads smacking one another’s echo throughout the stadium – however, the crowd soon realizes that it wasn’t the pads they heard echoing, but instead a single gunshot.

Case File #3 Part #10

The Packers kick off the ball to the Detroit Lions, and the second half of the game is underway. A quick four and out and the Lions give the ball up to the Green Bay Packers. They’re already ahead twenty-one to fourteen, and by the looks of their most current drive, they’re going to make it seven more. They’re charging down the field, headed by the quarterback Ken Haley and star running back Mike Watkins, along with of course, some great wide receivers too. The Packers manage to get first down after first down, and before long they are closing in on the end zone once again at the Lions’ own 35 yard line.

Case File #3 Part #9

Half time at Lambeau Field is always a busy one – in light of the Packers lead, your parents decide to head for the concessions stands early. Your father buys himself a Budweiser, your mother a Coke, and you get a delicious hot dog – though not the one you had your eyes on earlier. In fact, that vendor is still nowhere to be found, although his cart remains untouched in the same place, and people walk right past it without even seeming to notice. After everybody has something in their hand, the three of you head back down to your seat to enjoy the third quarter of the game.
