And here it is. The one who committed the Murder At Mr. MacAbrey’s Mansion is…

Jay MaPall! The butler! Remember, back in Part 8, Jay MaPall wipes his brow with a black handkerchief – the same black handkerchief can be seen stuffed in Dorothy’s mouth. It was used to gag her, to prevent her from screaming while she was strangled with her own blue scarf. Once this is figured out the police are called, and Jay MaPall is arrested.

So there you have it, the end of Case File #1. But stay tuned – Case File #2 is right around the corner, so check back soon!

Case File #1 Part #16

“The old man couldn’t have done it – he fell on the floor and hurt his own self, remember?” Renaldo insists.

“Yeah well maybe he didn’t do it himself, but he set this whole thing up! He’s responsible!” Kyle retorts.

“No, I swear, I had nothing to do with this.” Mr. MacAbrey nervously explains.

Nobody says another word – instead they all exchange nervous, accusatory glances with one another over the course of the next few minutes. Or it could have hours, with the tension so thick it was hard to tell…

So, whodunnit? Who killed Dorothy? Post a comment with your thoughts, theories and speculation. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll post the answer in a couple of days!

Case File #1 Part #14

Hastily the butler brushes off the dirt and dust from Mr. MacAbrey’s dark green jacket.

“Are you alright sir – is everybody else okay?” The butler asks.

Everybody seems to notice it all at once, judging by the cold look that suddenly takes over their faces. Rebecca passes out in fright; Jay abandons the host to tend to her as the twins start to scream at the top of their lungs.

“What the…?” Jeff asks.

The entire room seems to be in shock, incapable of making a move and completely speechless as they all stand there staring at the dead body that lies on the other side of the room.

Case File #1 Part #13

Even in complete darkness it is obvious that Mr. MacAbrey takes a tumble off from the stairs by the loud bang of his body hitting the ground and the sound of him rolling around on the floor afterwards.

“Help, someone, please…somebody must find the circuit breaker…”

Several tense minutes pass in the mansion – the darkness interrupted sporadically by bolts of lightning outside, and the silence broken with random claps of rolling thunder. Suddenly the lights come back on – across the room Jay MaPall stands next to the open circuit box. When he notices Mr. MacAbrey is still writhing around on the floor in pain, he rushes to his side and helps him up…

Case File #1 Part #12

“Good evening, I’m glad you all could make it. I will be your host for the evening, Mr. MacAbrey.”“Where are we?” Melinda asks.“Yeah, what’s going on here?” Belinda asks.By now Mr. MacAbrey stands on the last step of the long staircase used to make his entrance.“You have all been invited here to play a game – a murder mystery game. Do not fear – nobody will be hurt, I assure you this is only a game, one hundred percent scripted by myself. Now, let me explain to you how we will play this game.”He pauses in the middle of his speech to take a good look at everybody’s face. Just as he is about to take the last step off from the staircase, the lights go out…

Case File #1 Part #11

Mr. MaPall closes the large door behind the group with an echoing thud. They find themselves standing in a very dark house. There are many bookcases that line the walls, but they still aren’t enough to hold all of the books, magazines and old newspapers. Not only are they overflowing in piles, stacks and messes as far as the eye can see, they are all covered in dust, too.

A musty smell fills the room seconds after the door is shut; a large, black, wrought iron chandelier that is covered with cobwebs flickers on and off briefly, before an older, yet spry looking gentleman begins making a slow descent down the winding staircase…

Case File #1 Part #10

…Slowly the black limo creeps up the long and winding road that leads toward the mansion. It is pitch black outside by now, and it must be at least midnight when the vehicle finally arrives in front of the house. Quickly the driver, Jay MaPall opens the back door to usher everybody out of the vehicle and into the open door that awaits their entrance. Suddenly there is a booming thunder clap, followed by a quick bolt of lightning in the distance. Within the blink of an eye it is raining – but luckily the driver has already gotten everybody inside the mansion…

Case File #1, Part #9

…The group of strangers waste no time getting in the limo – after all, they’ve been flown to the field in the middle of nowhere, and their plane is already taking back off down the grassy runway. There really is no other choice.

The trip takes over an hour, but with all-you-can-drink champagne nobody seems to really notice. That is, until they see the intimidating structure that is MacAbrey’s Mansion looming on the horizon like a dark mountain standing out in the middle of a field; towers reach here and there up into the sky, and only a few lighted windows reveal the presence of a house amidst the darkness…

Case File #1 Part #8

…The plane lands safely in the airstrip, which is nothing more than a narrow clearing in the middle of a forest. There is a black stretched limo waiting for you with the back door open and the driver standing outside to greet everyone.

“Hello, my name is Jay MaPall – Mr. MacAbrey’s personal butler.”

“Who the hell is Mr. MacAbrey?” Renaldo demands defiantly.

“Yeah, can you tell us what’s going on here?” Li asks.

“All will be explained soon enough, I assure you. For now I will drive you to the mansion. There is champagne, as well as some fresh fruit, crackers and cheese for you to dine on in the back.” The soft spoken Jay proudly explains as he wipes the sweat from his brow with a black handkerchief, and then places it back into his front breast pocket…

Case File #1 Part #7

“ATTENTION PASSENGERS IF YOU COULD PLEASE ALL TAKE YOUR SEATS AND FASTEN YOUR SAFETY BELTS, WE WILL BE LANDING HERE IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES. THANK YOU.” The voice speaks loudly but direct and to the point over plane’s P.A. system.

“Still nobody has told me what exactly is going on here.” Rebecca says.

“Maybe we’ve won some sort of prize or something!” Li says optimistically.

“I highly doubt that.” Laughs Donald.

“Well whatever it is, we’ll find out soon enough I suppose.” Jeff states.

Quickly everybody fastens their safety belt as the airplane cuts through the early evening sky and begins to make its approach towards the runway…
