“ATTENTION PASSENGERS IF YOU COULD PLEASE ALL TAKE YOUR SEATS AND FASTEN YOUR SAFETY BELTS, WE WILL BE LANDING HERE IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES. THANK YOU.” The voice speaks loudly but direct and to the point over plane’s P.A. system.
“Still nobody has told me what exactly is going on here.” Rebecca says.
“Maybe we’ve won some sort of prize or something!” Li says optimistically.
“I highly doubt that.” Laughs Donald.
“Well whatever it is, we’ll find out soon enough I suppose.” Jeff states.
Quickly everybody fastens their safety belt as the airplane cuts through the early evening sky and begins to make its approach towards the runway…

The missing sister suddenly enters the cab from the cockpit of the plane.
“It’s alright Belinda, when the lights went out I just ran to the one place I knew – the cockpit.” The red haired sister explains.
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again, Melinda. I nearly had a heart attack.”
Next, the short Asian girl stands up to introduce herself.
“My name is Li. It’s nice to meet everyone.”
“Renaldo.” Speaks the Latino man dressed in the suit.
“I’m Dorothy, retired school teacher.” The black haired lady explains.
“Hi everyone! I’m Kyle!” The spiked-haired jock enthusiastically says.
“I am Donald.” The muscular black male says.
“Name’s Jeff, financial planner.”
“Rebecca.” The blonde haired, blue eyed woman bluntly states.

Suddenly, all of the lights in the cab blink off and then quickly back on – another second passes and they’re out again – it takes nearly a full 60 seconds, but eventually all of the lights in the cab do come back on.
Just then the stewardess walks in from the back of the plane.
“We apologize for that ladies and gentleman; we’re just experiencing a little turbulence. Rest assured you are in the hands of the best pilots around, and everything is well taken care of.”
That is when you hear one of the red-headed sisters screaming.
“MY SISTER! WHERE DID MY SISTER GO?!”

As the flight is now gliding safely and comfortably through the air, you undo your seat belt and take a look around, taking note of the nine other strangers onboard the flight with you. An older, Latino male, well dressed, groomed and mannered; an athletic jock type, also a male with blonde spiked hair; a muscular black male and a fourth male, dressed in what appears to be a jogging suit also wears a matching headband over his shaggy, grey hair – he is the oldest one of them all. There is a pair of red haired women who must be sisters; an overweight, black haired lady wearing librarian style glasses and a baby blue scarf, a short, skinny woman of Asian descent and a blonde haired, blue eyed girl – if she is not already a model, she could definitely make it as one…

After reading the letter aloud you notice a plane ticket inside the envelope, as well – it says nothing but ‘Flight 402’. You quickly pack some clothes into a travel bag, and before you know it you are on board the flight with nine other people – though there are plenty of seats available to fit a lot more.
Shortly after taking off the flight attendant comes around; she has short reddish-brown hair, brown eyes and a small, though not un-healthy frame. She offers peanuts and soda, as well as coffee for the sleepy individual and pure, bottled spring water for the health conscious…

“Greetings, you do not know who I am, but I am well aware of you. Your name has been given to me for consideration in participating in a game – a murder mystery game. You along with several others will board a flight, and arrive here to be met by my butler and a waiting limo. From there you will be driven to my mansion, where the game will begin. Remember, this is only a game – nobody has actually been murdered, and everything will adhere strictly to a written script. Please, won’t you join us? Arrangements have already been made at your work for the vacation time, and all expenses are paid. We’ll see you soon…”

As you stroll out to check your mail this one particular morning, a certain envelope catches your eye. It looks aged, slightly yellowed, with each corner featuring a very intricate, hand drawn swirl for accent, reminiscent of wild vines growing amidst a jungle primeval.
There is no return address, only your name and address in the center of the envelope hand written in beautiful calligraphy. You turn the envelope over, revealing a blue wax stamp seal, emblazoned with the letter M; upon breaking the seal you notice a strong scent – very pleasing to the nose, but strong indeed. You open up the letter, and can’t help but read it aloud to yourself while standing next to the street…

This blog is designed to be somewhat of a throwback to the old text-based games found in the early days of computers, i.e. Dos, Bulletin Board Systems, CompuServe and so on. You can also leave a comment with any other kind of questions or feedback you may have.
